- Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry is declaring a State of Emergency effective 5 p.m. today, Thursday, September 1, 2016. This declaration allows the city to more easily and quickly allocate dollars and resources to best protect lives and property.
- Duval County is under a Tropical Storm Warning and Flood Watch through Friday, September 2, 2016 in the afternoon.

Storm Preparation Tips
- Charge all cell phones and portable chargers. Keep them charged in case the power goes out.
- Have access to cash, just in case. If power goes out, ATM's and credit cards won't work.
- Remember to secure anything outside that COULD blow away.
- Fill your vehicles up with gas. If power goes out, the gas pumps won't work.
- Wipers on? Headlights on! Do not use your hazards/flashers when driving.
- If you're flying out today, remember to check status with your airline before traveling to the airport.
- Per Duval Schools - All AFTER school activities are canceled today, 9/1/16 due to pending storm. School is in session today. A decision about school on Friday will be made by this afternoon.
- Attorney General's Price Gouging Hotline has been activated. The number is 1-866-9-NOSCAM.
- Just in case, clean out storm drains to mitigate flood risk. Clean out lawn clippings and other debris from drains.
- If the power goes out, what will you eat? Do you have food that you don't have to cook?
- Water!

These workshops feature attorneys who can provide guidance on a variety of topics. All programs are free and open to the public. NOTE: The lawyers in this program have generously volunteered their time; however, they should not be considered as personal lawyers. No attorney-client relationship is being created with this free service. The lawyers are there to provide general guidance and advice only

Duval County Public School Lap Top Sale Starts Friday, August 26

 Affordable Laptop Sale Friday, August 26th
Duval County Public Schools is conducting an online sale of used laptops for $50 each to parents and guardians of DCPS students (K-12 only) - one laptop per DCPS student. The sale starts on Friday, August 26th. And pick up is scheduled for the following week. Supplies are limited. All sales are final. No technical support is provided. 
ONLINE PURCHASE INSTRUCTIONS

• To purchase a laptop online, go to https://dcps.schoolcashonline.com and create an account or login to your existing account.
• To create an account:
o Register your secure personal information.
o Add a student. You must have your student’s name and ID number.
o Select the laptop option in the Item tab.
o Pay for the laptop with a credit card or debit card.
• Print out your receipt. (You must have your receipt and your student’s name and ID # to claim your laptop)CASH PURCHASE INSTRUCTIONS
For those purchasing with cash, come on Friday, August 26 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. to Room 128 at the Duval County Public School Offices at 1701 Prudential Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Only one laptop per DCPS student. Cash only. No checks. You must bring your student’s name and ID # to purchase the laptop.
PICK-UP INSTRUCTIONS
All online and cash purchases of laptops must be pick up at Wolfson High School at 7000 Powers Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32217 between 3-7 p.m., on August 30th and August 31st.


COMPUTER INFORMATION
The laptops are re-imaged Lenovo Thinkpad T410 14.1 Notebooks with Intel Core i5 2.40GHZ processors and 160 GB hard drive. They are in working order. DCPS students are eligible to receive a free Operating System upgrade and Office 2016 through the district’s EES agreement with Microsoft. Sales are on a first come-first serve basis while supplies last. There are a limited number of computers available. Only DCPS students are eligible to participate. Only one laptop per DCPS student. All sales are final.
